A spiritual retreat in the heart of our campus

hermitage6Feeling frazzled? Looking for a quiet place to read, write, or reflect? Consider spending a few days at The Hermitage at Stony Point Center. This small, one-room, stone house offers a single bed, small refrigerator, microwave, writing table, rocking chair, and private garden area outside. There is no running water, but there is a water jug and old-fashioned china pitcher and basin for washing face and hands. No shower, but there is a composting toilet. A shower and flush toilet are available five minutes away if you prefer.

There are two options for how to handle your meals:

No meals provided – bring your own light snacks or simple meals (granola, yogurt, fruit, items that can be heated in a microwave, etc.) if you would like to be totally self-sufficient.

Or - Join us for regular meals in our dining room. You can purchase meal tickets at our front desk: $7 for breakfast, $10 for Lunch and $15 for Dinner.

hermitage1The hermitage has tea available and a small coffee maker with coffee provided.

Rates: The Hermitage is meant for those who desire a simple, low-cost way to have time alone. It is offered on a sliding scale according to ability to pay at a rate of $25 to $50 per night (note – tickets for SPC meals are available for a separate fee at the front desk).

There is no dedicated internet service - nor is there a television - in the Hermitage. Bed and bathroom linens are provided. Guests have access to the grounds at Stony Point Center, including the labyrinth, Meditation Space, and the Center and Library for the Bible and Social Justice.
