Stony Point Center is located in the lower Hudson Valley Watershed, about 35 miles north of Manhattan. We are within a fifteen minute drive of Harriman and Bear Mountain State Parks, and the lakes and forests are beautiful! Our community spends a lot of time playing in the outdoors, and we hope you will, too.
There are some nice lakes near the center that are great for boating (Learn more here). Stony Point Center has about a dozen canoes and kayaks; we love taking guests out to play. We do not charge for this service, but instead offer it as we are able through the season (late April to early November).
Whether you like short, easy hikes or longer, harder hikes, we can find something to match your needs. The Appalachian Trail runs not far to the north of us, but there are also nice walks along the river. Stony Point volunteers have collected materials on hikes and strolls in the vicinity of the Center and have written descriptions of their own experiences. These are available in a 3-ring binder in the front lobby of Evergreen. Bear Mountain State Park, New York and Harriman State Park are within 5 miles of the Center.
The Stony Point campus includes playing fields for soccer, baseball, and volleyball, as well as a large open central oval, suitable for informal games such as frisbee or tag. We keep some sports equipment at the front desk or you can bring your own.
