The Community of Living Traditions invites you to a free screening & discussion:
“CRIES FROM SYRIA”
a Film by Evgeny Afineevsky
The newly released HBO documentary is a searing, comprehensive account of the brutal civil war that has defined Syria for the past 6 years. Drawing on hundreds of hours of footage from activists and citizen journalists, as well as testimony from child protestors, leaders of the revolution, human rights defenders, ordinary citizens, and high-ranking army generals who defected from the government, their collective stories are a cry for attention and help from a world that little understands their reality or agrees on what to do about it.
Following the film there will be reflection, discussion and Q&A with two young Syrian women seeking asylum in the United States: Ahed Festuk and Sana Mustafa.
After the discussion, all are invited to stay for Stony Point Center’s wholesome and delicious dinner buffet in the Evergreen Dining Room at 6pm. A special film- night rate of $10 will be honored. Please RSVP for dinner at tinyurl.com/april23spc

"Look at this and ask yourself if you can still do nothing. It should be required viewing for everyone in a position of power worldwide, especially those who would choose to enable genocide and stigmatize those who flee it.” - Roger Ebert
