“StonyPoint55” is a convergence of individuals from various organizations in the Hudson River and New York City areas working to close the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant. StonyPoint55 is offering a “Safe Energy Summit: End Nuclear Power Now!” to be held at Stony Point Center on the thirtieth anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The summit will be held on April 29 to May 1.

Come to share updates, best practices, and opportunities for collaboration with one another. Other folks who are working against fossil fuels or for alternative energy are welcome, but with the understanding that the primary purpose of this gathering is to strengthen the movement to de-license and decommission Nuclear Power plants.

This is not a conference with outside expert panelists, it is an opportunity to collaborate with others who are grassroots organizers, academics, and advocates who are committed to the work of closing/de-commissioning nuclear power facilities in their local areas. We who are involved are the experts! This is an opportunity to enhance the movement to shut-down nuclear power by learning from each other and planning next steps using insights gained from each other.

The summit will be facilitated by Rick Ufford-Chase, co-director of Stony Point Conference Center and active activist to close the Indian Point Nuclear Power facility owned by Entergy Corporation. Rick is highly skilled at bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and empowering them to set their own agenda to share information and strategize together.

Accommodations are simple but comfortable and the food is terrific. Bathrooms are individual, but located in the hall immediately across from guest rooms. There is plenty of meeting space, and there is good support for internet and meeting technologies.
