A Time to Remember: Come together for a "Big Fat Native American Thanksgiving!"

Come feast with local and regional Native American Elders and activists at Stony Point Center - this Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017, 1-9pm.

The Community of Living Traditions hosts a free potluck Thanksgiving meal at 1pm on Thanksgiving Day for all who want to come. Kitty and Rick Ufford-Chase bring the free-range, organic turkey, and you bring whatever you want to share.

Elders include Tiokasin Ghosthorse, (Lakota) host of national "First Voices" Indigenous Radio Program, Earthsinger: Joan Henry, native american vocalist, actress, dancer and composer, and Evan Pritchard (Abachbahametch) Mi'kmaq, founder of Center for Algonquin Culture. We will be listening and learning as various Elders re-collect their memories, stories and songs -- offering teachings ancient and new for our time, as we pass the basket to financially support the elders' travel (as needed) and the local Ramapough Lenape Tribe legal fund.

The afternoon will include:
1-3pm - "Gumwin feast" or potluck dinner (there will be Native American and other foods, as well as what YOU bring to share)
3-4pm - transition
4-7pm - "Chautauqua" or teaching circle
7:30-9:30pm - "Tchitchankweewee' or story and song circle

The event is free and open to all! You are welcome to come for part or all of the activities. RSVPs appreciated to 845-786-5674 x100.

In addition, we offer a special lodge rate of $60 for those who would like to spend the nigh, breakfast included. To reserve a room, visit stonypointcenter.org/book-a-room and use code 'Thanksgiving' to get the special rate.
