Over the past few months, a series of major renovations has been underway in Stony Point Center's main building, Evergreen, which holds our largest meeting spaces, dining hall, reception area and business offices.
We installed a new heating system, and were quite relieved to retire the inefficient monster of a furnace that has served us since the building was built in the 1960s.
We have repaired major leaks in the dining hall ceiling and with the good weather, we are starting to lay the new metal sheets over the dining room and demolish the roof over our largest meeting space.
In conjunction with the new roof, we are installing a series of porticos over doorways all along the back of the building which will greatly improve guest comfort during rain and snow and increase the usability of the sliding glass doors.
We are grateful for the support from the Presbyterian Mission Agency that is making these improvements possible, as well as for the flexibility and understanding that our guest groups have extended to the occasional inconvenience. We are excited for the potential that these changes will open up in the future!
