Walking around campus today, I was struck by the stoic beauty of the sycamores. Tall trees of white and brown reaching into a blue sky. Snow sits in piles still melting from the latest storm but I can’t help but think that these trees are stretching – getting ready to shake off the cold and will soon be pushing out buds and leaves. The campus will soon be transformed into an explosion of tree flowers. From sycamore to dogwoods. From maples to beech trees. New growth will be here before we know it.
Makes me think of where we are as Stony Point Center. We too are shaking off the “slumber” we have been in for the past couple of years as COVID-19 has devastated lives, and in turn, devastated the usage of this beautiful space. But take heart! We are open and growing again. Today we host Montefiore Hospital group’s respite and renewal retreat. They gather together their staff who have experienced trauma and loss and through guided experiences from talented and loving leaders, they help those in pain find a way through it.
Know that Stony Point Center is finding a way through. Come and visit us! A walk around is free and guaranteed to renew your soul. Whether it’s sitting under this sycamore or strolling through our woods – the fresh air frees the mind to relax. And come and say hello! We’d love to have you.
Know how much we are thinking of you. You have graced this space and allowed us to continue, even when the going was rough. It is because of people like you that we keep pushing forward as that “new growth” comes along.
Grace and Peace to you.
