The Whole IG Kit and Caboodle: An Intergenerational Primer
March 24-26, 2025
-
Are you interested in intergenerational formation? Whether you’ve been in the intergenerational formation conversation for a decade or you’re just joining the conversation, this mini- conference might be for you. From dinner on Monday night, March 24th to lunch on Wednesday, March 26th you’ll be immersed into the world of intergenerationality through teaching, conversation, reflection, writing, and sharing.
Over nine sessions the Rev. Dr. Jason Brian Santos will guide participants through the “whole intergenerational kit and caboodle” of this growing global conversation. Through a series of guided questions, participants will delve into the most salient concepts, theologies, and frameworks upon which our intergenerational formation efforts are built. Combining scholarly insight with practical wisdom, Santos will take participants through the empirical, sociological, psychological, theological, and philosophical underpinning of intergenerationality. During this mini-conference, you will explore questions like:
Why are we talking about intergenerationality now?
Why are young people leaving the church?
How will this impact the present and future church?
What does the Bible say about intergenerational formation?
What are the key terms for understanding intergenerationality?
How do we start a conversation about intergenerational formation in my church?
What should my intergenerational experiments look like and how do I evaluate them?
These questions and more will shape the movement and flow of this conference. Regardless of your entry point into this conversation, having the whole intergenerational argument presented in sequence, with attention to the most relevant places of inquiry, participants will undoubtedly leave equipped with practically everything they need to jump into the conversation.
As an added bonus, participants will have the opportunity to join a special cohort focused on bringing the entirely of this material to publication. This mini-conference will serve as the launching pad for Dr. Santos’s new book on intergenerational formation. Cohort members will participate in monthly gatherings, where they will have access to draft chapters and have a chance to contribute stories of their own intergenerational experiences. All cohort participants will receive a free copy of the book upon publication and have their names in the acknowledgments. There is no cost for cohort participation.
