Emergent Strategy explores a method of change-making that is rooted in creative, collaborative unfolding of vision. The book is a resolutely materialist “spirituality” based equally on science and science fiction -- a visionary incantation to transform that which ultimately transforms us.
For this session, attendees are encouraged to read the chapters that delve into the 4th, 4th and 6th "elements of emergent strategy" -- nonlinear and iterative, resilience, creating more possibilities. In the hard copy book, this are on pages 103-166.
A digital download of Emergent Strategy is available from AK Press for $1.99:
This discussion follows on three sessions we have spent discussing Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents, which serve as a primary inspiration for brown's Emergent Strategy.
‘Living into a New Normal’ is a weekly series that the Community of Living Traditions at Stony Point Center has created to explore the world that the COVID19 pandemic reveals. Using the lenses of our religious and spiritual traditions, our experiences of intentional community and mutual aid, and our connection to intersectional movements for justice and peace, we will try to understand and imagine how to harness this difficult time to live into a shared journey toward a new normal that will serve the needs of all. Please join us on this journey!
