By the Leading of the Spirit: Discerning Call in Church and Ministry
The church is in a season that demands intentional reflection on vocation, identity, and how we guide others toward faithful ministry. Those charged with that guidance, leaders of Committees and Commissions on Ministry, mid-council leaders, and others serving in roles related to call and preparation for ministry, need space to do that work together.
This three-day, in-person retreat at Stony Point Center is designed exactly for that purpose. Rooted in the conviction that discernment is both a spiritual practice and a communal responsibility, the retreat will weave together worship, theological reflection, facilitated discussion, and peer learning across presbyteries and Synods.
Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on discernment practices within their own contexts, engage current call processes in the PC(USA), examine presbytery issues and by-laws alongside colleagues, and build meaningful relationships with leaders across the region. The goal is not just a single gathering but a foundation for an ongoing annual retreat that deepens and broadens regional ownership over time.
