Stony Point Center Programs

We are committed to helping our missionally-aligned groups, congregations & mid-councils improve their impact. We are working hard to help their leaders stay energized, receive training, and generally stay in the marathon that they are running.

Two programs leaders can apply to:

Leaders’ Retreats (Free or Freewill Donation):

  • 1-2 day retreats for 5-10 church & mid-council leaders, nonprofit boards or staff, catered to the group’s needs.
  • Leadership training, team building, yoga, and artmaking are all possibilities on offer if your application is accepted.
  • Sponsored by the Allison House Program Fund, the group stays and meets in Allison House. Eats in Evergreen Dining Hall.

Sojourner Program ($50 per-person-per-day):

  • Up to one week per year, this long-standing SPC tradition is once again open to missionally aligned leaders/pastors.
  • Guest stays in the Sojourner House. Meals not included. Guests cook in house kitchen or purchase dining hall meals if open.
  • A 3-bedroom house, each is rented individually so Sojourner may be sharing the house with another Sojourner or two.

Sampling of Guest Group Mission Statements

Korean American Presbyterian Church of Queens held a junior high retreat here: “We are a church and community rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, grounded in God’s Word, steadfast in prayer, devoted to fellowship, active in evangelism, and committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Jesuit Volunteer Corps… “through solidarity and service with local communities, fosters the formation of young  people dedicated to a faith that promotes justice.”

Transformative Educational Leadership “Our mission is to co-create a beloved learning community with diverse educational leaders through which they learn to integrate their inner and outer lives, and lead the communities they serve with greater compassion, courage, wisdom, and love.”

Odyssey Executive Family Center: “Our mission is to work in partnership with families and community organizations to provide access to information, resources and career pathways that will position families to empower and improve outcomes for their children and themselves.”

World Day of Prayer International “is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice..”

Jewish Voice for Peace “is the largest progressive Jewish anti-Zionist organization in the world. We’re organizing a grassroots, multiracial, cross-class, intergenerational movement of U.S. Jews into solidarity with the Palestinian freedom struggle, guided by a vision of justice, equality, and dignity for all people.”

Missionally-Aligned Group Feedback

SPC’s mission is to nurture a space of inclusion and acceptance so guest groups can confront and transform the brokenness of our shared physical and spiritual world.

“Staying at Allison House was perfect for our team. Having the whole space to ourselves allowed us to have deep conversation, creative activities, and meaningful planning—all in one place. The peaceful setting and thoughtful environment helped us stay grounded in the purpose or our retreat while also giving us space to reconnect as people.

“Our overnight retreat at Stony Point Center gave our team the space we didn’t know we needed. Stepping away from our day-to-day allowed us to slow down, reflect, and really connect. One of my favorite moments was gathering around the firepit, making s’mores and just talking—no agenda, no pressure. We laughed, shared stores, and saw each other in a different light. The time together helped us build trust and laid the foundation for how we move forward as a team.”

– Julienne Foy, Odyssey Family Executive Center
